This post is inspired by one of our favorite books: Fortunately by Remy Charlip.

Unfortunately, my usual tasty crockpot chicken wasn't so good last night. (picture from a better time)
Fortunately, the sopapilla cheesecake made up for it.

Unfortunately, the playroom is a mess.

Fortunately, the kitchen is clean!

Unfortunately, a bad guy showed up at our house.

Fortunately, my protectors took care of him.

Unfortunately, Caleb got upset during the three hour Monopoly game.

Fortunately, he won the game!

Unfortunately, the day came to an end.

Fortunately, it's a start of a new day!

Just as long as there isn't a snake in the RV

Aaron's Mom invited us to tag along with her to the Peddler Show/ Outdoor Show, the "His and Her" show in town. We enjoyed browsing the booths in the peddler show. But we really enjoyed stepping into the world of hunters, outdoorsmen, RVers, and boaters at the outdoor show as we do none of those things in real life.

We touched an alligator courtesy of Gator Country. Gary and Jana were there from the show Gator 911. I thought about snapping a picture of them, but I didn't want to seem like a groupie.

We also witnessed snake handlers acting extremely unwisely if you ask me. One of them kept kissing this cobra on the top of his head.

The snake handlers also had rattlesnakes with them. They demonstrated to us how to get out of a sleeping bag if a snake gets in with you. One of the guys climbed into a sleeping bag, then the others filled it with snakes. What!?! This totally game me the creeps and I kept thinking of two things, religious snake handlers and an extremely creepy episode of The X Files about snake handlers that I WISH I HAD NEVER WATCHED!

Luke and I had to step away from the snakes. Luke found something just his size.

The boys tried out every boat, this one was the winner.

One thing the whole family loved was the RVs. I am so ready to purchase an RV and travel around the US. Wouldn't that be fun?

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. A big thanks to Ann for taking us to experience this other world of boating, hunting, and RVing. Oh and Aaron was the big winner of a door prize. His prize was a hunter's gift basket with hunting accessories worth $80. I'm not sure what he will do with it though.

A Garden Update

If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.

I love, love our yard with the many trees and the plants that bloom every year without any help from me. During the year we have azaleas, gardenias (my favorite), and currently the crape myrtles are in bloom.

My tomato plants keep getting taller.
There are some good looking green tomatoes on the plant right now.

We also planted squash, green peppers, cucumbers, and zucchini. But so far I haven't seen any of those. A mystery vegetable has appeared. I'm not for sure what it is.

This is the squash or the zucchini. It keeps flowering, we are waiting for the vegetable.

If you want to be happy for a year, plant a garden; If you want to be happy for life, plant a tree.

July 4th cookout on the deck. I wonder if Tim will be mad at me for posting this picture.

"Okay, Lori that is enough pictures of us getting our food."

We waited for the sun to set,

then Joe put on a fireworks show for us.

Everyone gathered around.

And some held their ears.

The fireworks were amazing and fun!

Lunch at Saltgrass for a birthday lunch and then time to head home.
