Fun with Cousins

Our Dallas Trip in Pictures

Baseball game with family. Lots of fun. (Thanks for taking us to the game PawPaw!)

Celebrating Kaylin's 5th birthday. Look at her smile! Visiting the new Lego store in Frisco. Cool to see Indy and R2D2. Not cool that four kids were tired and maybe overwhelmed.

Sights and Sounds from Our House

1. Aaron has new running shoes. He is becoming a big runner. This week he has run 3 days in a row. Am I running? Um no.
2. Aaron grilled our dinner. There is nothing better than Zummo's Links and Boudain.

3. Don't worry the boys are not playing with guns. They are playing with Foam Missile Launchers.

4. This is the easiest recipe for Coconut Pie and so good.

5. While Aaron was grilling, the coconut pie was baking, and the boys playing with the guns I mean foam missile launchers, we were listening to the new CD from Mat Kearney. There are no songs with spoken word, which I really liked on his other CDs. I think this one will grow on me.

Is it summer yet?

Lukey asks me about 5 times a day, "Is it summer yet?" I now know, summer starts June 21st on Father's Day. I wonder why he thinks it is already summer?

A Kemah Mother's Day

I had a delightful Mother's Day. The boys gave me a gift wrapped with purple wrapping paper! Inside was a candle set with a purple candle and purple butterflies! I loved it.

We went to church with Granna and PawPaw, then had a small lunch of sandwiches. Why a quick lunch? We were trying to get to our Mother's Day destination- Kemah.

We arrived and the boys rode some rides. Luke loved the double-decker carousel.

And Caleb, poor Caleb. Kemah was super crowded and it took us a while to park. The whole time Caleb is talking about this roller coaster. He was begging me to take him on it. I was not having anything to do with it. He kept saying over and over again, "I really want to ride that roller coaster." Finally Aaron agreed to ride the roller coaster with Caleb. While they were in line to purchase tickets, Hector decided to ride too. It was not a fun experience for any of the Garza guys. Caleb came off the roller coaster in tears, Aaron said it was rough, and Hector said it was the last roller coaster he would ever ride in his life. Apparently, like wooden roller coasters do, it beat them up. All three of them thought the roller coaster would never end.

While all of this was going on, Ann put our name in at Saltgrass. The wait time was going to be an hour and forty five minutes. Well after the roller coaster our excitement at being at Kemah started to dissipate. It started getting really hot under the Texas sun. We found a place to sit in the shade, and we were questioning the wisdom of coming to Kemah. Aaron decided to take the boys on the train ride, while the rest of us went to Saltgrass to wait out our time. We got to Saltgrass after an hour of our wait time had gone by. As soon as we walked in they called us in and we got to sit right by a window. We decided it was a God thing that we got there at exactly the right time.

We had a delicious meal and enjoyed the view. It was a great Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day

Well, a mother, a real mother is the most wonderful person in the world.
She's the angel voice... that bids you good night, kisses your cheek, whispers "sleep tight"
Your mother and mine your mother and mine
The helping hand that guides you along whether you're right whether you're wrong
Your mother and mine your mother and mine
What makes mothers all that they are might as well ask what makes a star
Ask your heart to tell you her worth your heart will say Heaven on Earth
Another word for divine your mother and mine.

From Peter Pan by: J.M. Barrie

I am blessed to have a mother who is divine! Happy Mother's Day Mom!

Family Night

We had our May Family Night at Co-op this week. Science projects and artwork were on display. The music classes presented programs. Caleb was in a program about the 20th Century (that is what they studied this year in history). My favorite song that they did was a 50's medley with dancing. Lukey was in a program with the preschoolers through 2nd grade. The little ones have been studying geography in history, so they presented a program with songs from around the world. Lukey is dressed like he is from Africa and got to play a drum. Caleb and Luke did so good! Thanks Granna and PawPaw for coming!
